The exact origin of chocolate cake is not entirely clear, but it is believed to have emerged in the 18th century when chocolate became more widely available and popular in Europe. Chocolate cakes at the time were likely dense, rich cakes made with cocoa powder, sugar, and eggs, and were often served as a dessert for special occasions.
As the 19th and 20th centuries progressed, chocolate cake recipes became more refined and began to incorporate additional ingredients such as butter, flour, and leavening agents like baking soda and baking powder, resulting in lighter and fluffier cakes.
Today, chocolate cake is a beloved dessert around the world and comes in many different forms, from classic layer cakes to flourless chocolate cakes and molten chocolate cakes. It is a popular choice for birthdays, weddings, and other special occasions, and is often paired with a variety of toppings and frostings
Ingredients:
2 cups granulated sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup strong hot coffee
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Add the eggs, buttermilk, coffee, oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
